GOALS: Thrive and sustain, self-powered in varied conditions, efficient for outdoor use, theatre-quality sound, compact enough for touring without waste, reuse recycle and renew whenever possible.Lightning Temple is potentially a more efficient system than any sound system of its size currently used in festivals or music/art
events. The nature of tesla coil sound means that more pure wattage is used for sound production, allowing for less overall power use to create a significant sound system. 4000 watts of power is usually only useful for smaller sound systems in a stage setting, but 4000 watts of pure energetic sound is immense in terms of feeling the fullness of the sound, rather than loud enough to be hurting the ears. The tesla coil
core should sound great in outdoor festival settings without great noise pollution escaping the stages.
Reuse of
materials from previous projects will be utilized as often as possible. We are currently modifying two tesla coils donated by Toyshoppe Productions and kVA Effects and we plan to power the tesla coil system with solar power.
Solar partners should contact Brent at Toyshoppe or look at our sponsorship options. The
Lightning Temple crew includes many of the world's top
tesla coil builders along with green designers, architects, researchers, computing and arts experts from a wide range of disciplines. This transmedia team is being assembled to create and produce this piece together as a model for future power, light and communications systems for many applications.
We are developing this project with help from our friends at
Green Gurus and other thriveability specialists who understand cradle-to-cradle design and the uniqueness of our endeavor. More details will be provided in 2009 as we share more of our alternative energy solutions.
